Toronto Maple Leafs promote Hockey Hall of Famer, four-time Olympic gold medalist Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser to assistant general manager

Dr. Hayley Wickenheiser, Hockey Hall of Famer and a person of the most adorned women’s players of all time, has been promoted to assistant basic manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Wickenheiser, whose target will be participant enhancement, initially joined the Leafs as assistant director of participant improvement in August 2018 and was inevitably promoted to senior director of player development in 2021. A six-time Olympian and 4-time gold medalist in women’s ice hockey, Wickenheiser accomplished professional medical faculty at the University of Calgary in 2021.
Wickenheiser is the most up-to-date in a wave of gals who have been hired as assistant standard supervisors in the NHL, joining Emilie Castonguay and Cammi Granato with the Vancouver Canucks and Meghan Hunter with the Chicago Blackhawks.
The Leafs also promoted Darryl Metcalf and Ryan Hardy to assistant typical supervisor positions. Metcalf was promoted to assistant normal manager for hockey study and enhancement. He is in his ninth season with the Maple Leafs. He was the founder of the hockey analytics web page Extra Skater ahead of the Leafs employed him for their new analytics section in 2014.
Hardy had been the team’s senior director of minimal league operations in 2021 following 3 years as normal manager of the USHL’s Chicago Steel. They join existing Maple Leafs assistant GM Brandon Pridham beneath standard supervisor Kyle Dubas.
